Online Encounters Pty Ltd is a small online publishing company operating in the Strathpine CBD.  The flagship site, BCL, started as Brisbane City Life in 1995 and has since expanded to cover all Australian capital cities.  Some of our other sites are listed here. Our office at Strathpine, Queensland is 30 minutes north of Brisbane CBD and is within walking distance from Bray Park train station.

• have a passion for words; you care about spelling, punctuation, grammar and meaning.
• have a strong interest in online publishing and the internet.
• like to read.
• have very strong writing skills.
• can find your way around a computer and are familiar with the internet and Microsoft Office products.  We do not require programming skills but tell us if you have them.
• like to work things out for yourself within the bounds of your job.
• like to learn and develop new skills. 
• have wide-ranging curiosity.
• have an awareness of confidentiality, conflict of interest and ethical considerations.

Positions available include: 

• Content creators/editors: Full-time or close to full-time - we are able to be fairly flexible with hours but the office is only open Mon-Fri 9-5.  Probationary period applies.
  Typical Duties include:
  • Editing and updating events listings
  • Editing and updating listings for community and interest groups and clubs
  • Creating and placing advertisements for online shops.
  • Some original content creation
  • Proofreading and editing
